Note: The first-known origami (orisue) forms are believed to be Mecho and Ocho, female and male butterflies used for decoration at wedding ceremonies representing the bride and groom.  The first-known haiku mentioning origami is by poet Ihara Saikaku in 1680, “Rosei-ga yume-no cho-wa orisue,” which means “the butterflies in Rosei's dream would be origami.”
